Tennyson a major doubt for Kilkenny
Centre back John Tennyson is a serious injury worry for Kilkenny ahead of next month's All-Ireland SHC final against champions Cork.
The Carrickshock defender has just three weeks to recover from the shoulder injury he picked up in the early stages of yesterday's semi-final victory over Clare.
Tennyson was substituted with barely a quarter of an hour on the clock, and Cats boss Brian Cody has his fingers crossed that the U21 star can recover in time for the September 3 showdown.
Cody confirmed: "John hurt his shoulder badly - he's probably going to be in serious trouble for quite a few weeks. He has hurt that shoulder before and may find it difficult to make it back.
"It's a bad injury. Obviously we'll wait for the medics and all the rest of it, and just hope that John will be fine."
The 6ft 3in Tennyson has become a regular in the Kilkenny defence since making his championship debut only last year in the quarter-final win over Limerick.
He is certainly out of the Kilkenny U21 side's upcoming All-Ireland U21 semi-final against Galway.
