Man arrested at Israeli prime minister's office
13/08/2006 - 13:02:31Security guards at Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert’s office detected a “suspicious substance” today in the shoes of an Arab man trying to enter the building, a spokeswoman said.
Guards took the shoes and carried out a controlled explosion. Four loud booms were heard. Police announced over loudspeakers that visitors were not allowed to leave the building for the time being.
Olmert and his Cabinet ministers were in the building at the time, reviewing the UN ceasefire deal. The Cabinet was to approve the agreement later today.
The suspect was held for questioning, the prime minister’s office said.
