QPR capture Saints striker
QPR have completed the signing of striker Dexter Blackstock from Southampton for an undisclosed fee.
Rangers have been chasing the 20-year-old for much of the summer and he could make his debut against Southend on Saturday.
Blackstock revealed he had been seeking a new challenge after falling out of favour under George Burley at Southampton.
“It had all gone a bit stale for me at Southampton, and the chance to move to London was just too good to turn down,” he said. “There was never any doubt I would sign.
Chairman Gianni Paladini claimed Rangers had beaten “a number of top clubs” to the player’s signature, and manager Gary Waddock was delighted with his latest capture.
Waddock said: “I’ve been monitoring his progress since he was a kid. He’s quick, intelligent and is a natural goalscorer.”
