Devonish in medal hunt
The Norwich Union GB team will be hoping Marlon Devonish can at least repeat his 200metres bronze medal performance of four years ago when the European Championships continue today.
The team, after three days of action, has only one silver medal won by teenager Greg Rutherford in the long jump to show for their efforts in Gothenburg.
With the halfway stage of championships approaching, they will hoping for a change of fortune after some disappointing performances last night.
Tim Benjamin, albeit still race-rusty after a long injury lay-off, managed only sixth place in the 400m final, while Andrew Baddeley occupied the same place after 1500m.
Natasha Danvers-Smith, who had promised so much in her build-up before Sweden, was seventh in the 400m hurdles, the same placing she claimed four years ago in Munich.
Thiry-two-year-old Joice Maduaka missed the 100m bronze, and possibly silver, medal by just two hundredths of a second.
