Flights to Britain severely disrupted after terror plot

10/08/2006 - 08:20:43
Flights between Ireland and Britain are severely disrupted this morning following the foiling of an alleged plot to bomb planes leaving the UK.

Aer Lingus says Heathrow Airport has been closed to all incoming traffic, which will affect its services throughout the day.

Passengers are being advised not to travel to any airports in Britain unless it is absolutely necessary as security has been severely tightened across the UK.

All British-bound passengers are also reportedly being stopped and searched at Dublin Airport this morning, with any liquids or bottles they are carrying being confiscated.

The British authorities say any passengers who do board flights into the country will not be allowed to carry any hand luggage.
