Jack black fails to impress in Nacho Libre

Black is usually a funny actor, something he fails to achieve in what is a basically decent idea constructed in a somewhat haphazard and disjointed manner.
Black plays a cook raised and now working in a Mexican monastery.
He’s into wrestling and sees a local competition as a means of satisfying his passion as well as of raising money for better food for the kids.
He also wants to impress a new nun (Reguera) and show the monks that clinching on a mat isn’t a sin.
OK, so it’s merely a half-decent idea but it could have been more strongly a combination of comedy, action, romance and a dash of humanity. It fails to get near any of the requirements.
