Prison officers assaulters by inmates
09/08/2006 - 18:44:28Two prison officers were treated in hospital today after being assaulted by a number of inmates.
The Irish Prison Service confirmed the officers were injured after two prisoners attacked them at Limerick Prison.
A spokesman said: “The officers quickly brought the situation under control, but two officers were injured in the incident.”
One of the men was bitten, and the other received scratches in the assault, which took place at around 11am at the medium-security prison.
The prison service spokesman said both were taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital as a precaution.
