Mental health tribunals to be set up from November

The Government has announced that mental health tribunals will be set up from this November under legislation introduced four years ago.
The move follows the signing of an order bringing all the remaining provisions of the Mental Health Act 2001 into effect.
The new tribunals will review decisions to commit people on an involuntary basis to mental institutions.
The inquiries will have the power to organise for patients to be released if it considers that they shouldn't be held against their will.
