Teenager quizzed over murder

06/08/2006 - 16:09:57
A teenager was today arrested in the North for questioning about the murder of a Scotsman.

The 17-year-old is being questioned about the killing of 36-year-old Ronald Mackie from Kippen in Stirlingshire eight days ago as he visited the North.

Mr Mackie was attacked by a mob outside Tobermore Football Club in Co Derry before being pushed onto the road where he was struck by a car.

He had attended a loyalist band parade the night before in Maghera.

Three men have already appeared before magistrates charged with his murder.

Detectives have also been questioning another teenager about the killing.

Police yesterday revisited the scene of the murder and appealed for information from the public.

Motorists were stopped and people were also given leaflets urging them to help the investigation into Mr Mackie’s death.
