Spicer the hero for Waterford
Waterford United 0 Cork City 0
Ben Spicer was the Waterford hero with two terrific second half saves as champions Cork had to settle for a point before the biggest crowd of the season at the RSC.
Cork stay fourth in the table and are now eight points behind leaders Shelbourne whom they meet at Tolka Park on Friday night.
Mangerless Blues had the best of the first half with new signing Alan Cawley twice coming close from free kicks.
Cawley then brought a save out of Mick Devine before Cork came alive in the last half hour.
But they could find no way past Spicer who made superb saves to deprive Roy O’Donovan, on the hour, and Denis Behan, 15 minutes from time.
Ian Fraher should then have won it for Blues deep in stoppage time, but shot stragiht at Mick Devine with the goal at his mercy.
