A Connor Sammon goal gave UCD their first win in seven games as Sligo slumped to a second defeat on the spin.
College were the better side from the start and Ronan Finn and Gary Dicker came close before the only goal of the night on 39 minutes.
Alan Mahon sent new signing Paul Crowley to the end line to cross and Sammon’s downward header found the net.
Sligo had a chance to equalise 10 minutes into the second half when Mahon fouled Faz Kuduzovic, but Keith Foy’s feeble penalty was straight at Darren Quigley in the UCD goal.
