Stewards punish Alonso

04/08/2006 - 18:04:20
Fernando Alonso’s world championship challenge has been dealt a blow after he was given a two-second qualifying penalty for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Renault driver was punished by race stewards at the Hungaroring for an incident with Red Bull tester Robert Doornbos in second practice, as well as overtaking under a yellow flag.

Stewards docked him one second for each incident to be added for each qualifying session, raising the prospect he will fail to make it past first qualifying.
