Wexford town locals traffic congestion protest
04/08/2006 - 17:33:50Hundreds of locals have today mounted a protest against the use of Passage East in Co Waterford as an access point for a car ferry to Co Wexford.
The car ferry operates a service between Passage East and Ballyhack in Co Wexford.
During peak season, tailbacks and queues lasting up to three hours wind their way through the Wexford small village.
Locals say it is causing havoc with daily traffic disruption, fumes and congestion as well as damage to footpaths roads and even buildings.
This evening's protest has cause chaos in the small village and put additional pressure on the alternative route to Co Wexford through New Ross where tailbacks of almost an hour are being reported this evening.
