Ulster Bank reports strong first half

Ulster bank has reported a 20% hike in operating profit to €265m for the first six months of 2006.

In its interim report released today, it also announced that total income was up 15% to €686m.

Loans to customers were up 31% to €47bn, while business advantages were up 33% to €24.3bn.

The mortgage market remained stron with advances up 26% to €20.5bn.

Customer deposits were 26% higher, while total assets were up 33% to €58.4bn.
