Great day for ISEQ
There was a buoyant mood on the Irish Stock Exchange today as the value of Irish shares jumped by 1.53%, up 116.62 to 7719.
The financials performed well, with Anglo Irish Bank the only company not on the rise, staying put on €11.66. Bank of Ireland (up 23c to €14.38) and Irish Life & Permanent (up 22c to €18.72) both excelled. Allied Irish Banks inched up 7c to €19.89.
The standout sector of the day, however, was once again construction. CRH enjoyed the biggest gain of the entire exchange, jumping 57c to €25.92. The good mood was shared by Kingspan (up 25c to €13.65) and McInerney (up 16c to €10.75).
The food sector also enjoyed significant growth, with Kerry Group surging ahead, gaining 56c to €15.86. IAWS received a 10c boost, climbing to €14.85.

The news that Eircom revenue increasing by 21% to €483m during the first quarter of this year failed to excite investors. The telecoms giant remained unchanged at €2.19.
