Aer Lingus, SIPTU to decide stance on court proposals
04/08/2006 - 07:48:53Aer Lingus and SIPTU are both due to decide their stance today on Labour Court recommendations aimed at ending the dispute over the privatisation of the airline.
SIPTU workers have already voted for all-out strike action if their concerns about job security, employment conditions and pensions are not addressed.
The Labour Court's recommendations are believed to include a 4% pay rise over and above the latest national pay deal, as well as increased pension contributions.
Aer Lingus is set to decide today whether to accept the proposals.
SIPTU shop stewards met to discuss them yesterday, but said afterwards that they would be waiting to hear the airline's stance before deciding whether to ballot members on the offer.
