Melchiot heads for France
03/08/2006 - 08:17:35Former Chelsea and Birmingham defender Mario Melchiot has joined French club Rennes on a one-year contract.
The 29-year-old, who began his career with Ajax in his native Holland, left Birmingham when his contract expired at the end of last season.
Melchiot had been with the West Midlands club for two years.
He joined Chelsea from Ajax in 1999.
