SIPTU calls for Aer Lingus to accept recommendations

03/08/2006 - 19:45:21
SIPTU has called on Aer Lingus to accept Labour Court recommendations aimed at resolving industrial unrest over the part privatisation of the airline

The Labour Court has recommended a 3% pay rise for staff, as well as increased pensions benefits and cash bonuses.

SIPTU's national industrial secretary Michael Halpenny said this afternoon: “What happens now is that we're waiting for the company to tell us whether they accept the Labour Court recommendations or not, and depending on their response, we will go on to ballot our members.”

“We've asked the company to advise us as to what their position is. And only when we know what their position is then we'll be prepared to proceed.”
