Service sector sees strong jump in July
03/08/2006 - 09:04:59NCB Purchasing Managers’ Services Index, which covers all private sector services in Ireland excluding retail and wholesale, shows a sharp rise in activity at Irish service sector firms during July.
A third of firms indicated that activity had risen since the previous month, compared to 16% that noted a decline. Activity has now increased in each month since June 2003.
However, the rate of growth in July was the least marked since March.
Chief Economist at NCB Stockbrokers Dermot O’Brien said: "Growth in service sector activity remained strong last month, albeit marginally off recent highs. Growth in new business is solid, employment is expanding robustly and confidence remains very high."
