Two held in 'paramilitary crimes' probe

Two men were being questioned today about suspected republican paramilitary crimes in the North.

The pair, understood to be related, were arrested in Bellaghy, Co Derry.

They were taken to the anti-terrorist holding centre in Antrim.

Police would not give details of any alleged offences, or whether the arrests were linked to mainstream or dissident republicans.

A spokeswoman would only confirm: “Two men have been arrested this morning in Bellaghy in connection with serious crime.”
