Work to upgrade M50 motorway gets underway

Motorists in south Dublin are facing renewed traffic disruption from today as work begins to upgrade the M50 motorway.

A third lane is being added to both sides of the road on an 8km stretch between Ballymount and the N4 roundabout.

The speed limit is being reduced from 120km/h to 60km/h for the duration of the works, which are scheduled to be completed in two years' time.

South Dublin County Council has pledged to keep traffic disruption to a minimum.
