Godolphin expect Electrocutionist to shine
Godolphin are confident that Electrocutionist can give their season a much-needed boost in tomorrow’s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot.
Sheikh Mohammed’s operation have landed the mid-season showpiece event four times in the last 10 years and believe they have another perfect candidate in the shape of the Dubai World Cup winner.
Following his gutsy victory at Nad Al Sheba in March, the five-year-old finished a gallant second to Ouija Board in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot on his only subsequent start.
Frankie Dettori made the running on the Red Ransom entire on that occasion but Godolphin will run Cherry Mix tomorrow to fulfil a pacemaking role.
“Electrocutionist has really come to himself after his last runat Royal Ascot,” said Godolphin’s trainer, Saeed bin Suroor.
“He has been training well. His last piece of work was on Tuesday and he went very nicely.
“We are looking forward to running him, although it will be a tough race with the likes of Hurricane Run in the field,” he told www.godolphin.com.
“We know he is a class horse and we have Cherry Mix in as a pacemaker to help him.
“It’s a case of so far, so good with him and I’m happy with the way his preparation has gone.”
