Ansar tops Plate possibilities
Ante-post favourite Ansar heads a field of 30 horses engaged in Wednesday’s €200,000 William Hill Galway Plate at the five-day confirmation stage.
Dermot Weld’s popular charge will be bidding for an unprecedented hat-trick of successes if making the line-up and he could be joined by stablemate Mutakarrim.
British entries Fool On The Hill and Jodante were two of 15 horses to be pulled out of the race with Richard Fahey’s Ball O Malt the only likely raider.
The 10-year-old gelding has been in good form this summer and notched an impressivewin in the Galway Plate Trial Chase at Perth earlier in the month.
Noel Meade has left six in the contest headed by the improving Patton, who notched a wide-margin victory at Kilbeggan last week.
Hills spokesman Tony Kenny said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the make up of the race.
“Ansar is the punters choice at the moment, but we expect to see a lot more movement in the market in the next few days.”
