Psychiatric nurses hold strike ballot over compensation row
26/07/2006 - 07:42:31Psychiatric nurses are due to begin voting today on whether to take strike action over the lack of compensation they receive in the event of a physical assault.
SIPTU and the Psychiatric Nurses Association say the health services have consistently reneged on a promise to set up a compensation scheme.
They say more than 1,300 psychiatric nurses were attacked at work last year, an increase of 500 on the figures for 2001.
