Fabre worry over summer run
Andre Fabre has admitted to a “little worry” over letting Hurricane Run take his chance in Saturday’s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.
Last year’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe hero will be bidding to bounce back from a disappointing performance when only second at Saint-Cloud last time.
However, the four-year-old has only encountered good to firm ground once in his career, when winning the Irish Derby, and Fabre admits he is a little concerned about running his stable star at the high point of the season.
He told the Racing Post: “My little worry is that this will be the first time he has run in the summer.
“It’s quite unusual for me to run a horse like Hurricane Run at this time of year but I made his programme this year around the King George, so if he’s beaten I can only blame myself.
“The King George is one of the biggest races in the world and he has already won the Arc, so I wanted to run him at Ascot.
“But he is proven on soft and heavy so I would prefer some rain before the race."
