Alonso dismisses Real move
25/07/2006 - 07:11:37Xabi Alonso insists he wants to stay at Liverpool despite reported interest from Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old midfielder is believed to be a target for new Real boss Fabio Capello, but Alonso has ruled out a return to Spain.
“I have heard the rumours but that is all they are,” he told the Daily Mirror.
“As far as I am concerned there is no truth in the story at all. I am focused on my job here at Liverpool.
“I have had no contact with Real Madrid, and I am confident I am going nowhere.
“You have to be flattered when you are the subject of this speculation, but I want to stay at Liverpool.”
