Oasis to release greatest hits album

Oasis are to release a greatest hits album, it was announced today.

Stop The Clocks will feature a mix of hits and B-sides. The 18-track double album is released on November 20.

“This collection has been chosen by the band themselves – the songs they believe encapsulate their remarkable career to date,” an Oasis spokeswoman said.

“Unlike most albums of this nature, Oasis have sat down and undertaken the almost impossible job of picking what they consider to be their finest moments ever.”

Stop The Clocks will include their 1994 debut Supersonic and their anthem Wonderwall.

It will also feature Acquiesce – dubbed “the greatest B-side ever” – and Half The World Away, another B-side familiar to TV viewers as the theme tune to The Royle Family.

The album is billed as a retrospective of their career so far, which has seen Oasis notch up 40 million album sales worldwide.

The band have no intention of calling it a day, their spokeswoman assured fans.

“After 10 months on the road, Oasis are taking a well-earned sabbatical prior to starting work on new material,” she said.

“As such, this is not a full stop, but merely a time out.”
