SF to examine conditions for immigrants at Cloverhill

A Sinn Féin delegation is due to visit Cloverhill Prison in Dublin today to examine the conditions in which immigrants and asylum seekers are being detained.

The group plans to inspect cells at the facility, as well as the provision of health and education services.

Sinn Féin says 2,700 immigrants were held in Cloverhill between 2003 and 2004, two-thirds of them for more than 50 days.

It says it wants to make sure that their rights are being respected.
