Second 24 hour taxi stoppage planned for next Tuesday

Taxi drivers are set to withdraw their services for twenty-four hours next Tuesday after a meeting with the Taxi Regulator ended without agreement this afternoon.

Ger Deering met with the National Taxi Drivers' Union to discuss their concerns - but the regulator said the controversial new fare structure would stand.

He added that the Commission had taken into consideration the views of all who have an interest in the industry when drafting the new fares.

The Union said relations with the regulator are at an 'all time low' after today's meeting.
