CAB freezes €6m in 12 months

The Criminal Assets Bureau reportedly enjoyed one of its most successful years last year since it was established 10 years ago to target the wealth of organised criminals.

Reports this morning say the agency froze more than €6m in cash and assets during 2005 and collected €16m in taxes.

This brings the total amount seized by CAB to €60m since 1996.

It has also collected a total of €89m in taxes from criminal figures over that period.
