Govt urged to remove VAT on energy-efficient items
24/07/2006 - 08:05:33Friends of the Irish Environment is calling on the Government to remove VAT on environmentally-friendly items that could help Ireland meet its commitment under the Kyoto Protocol.
The call comes as Minister for the Environment Dick Roche prepares to launch a consultation paper on climate change this afternoon.
The document will contain recommendations to help Ireland meets its climate change commitments.
Friends of the Irish Environment says one way to do this is to remove VAT on equipment and insulation designed to boost energy efficiency.
