Six people hospitalised after fire in Limerick Prison cell

Gardaí are investigating a fire at Limerick Prison last night which left two inmates and four staff members needing hospital treatment.

The fire, which broke out at around 8.30pm, is believed to have been confined to one cell. The cause is not yet known.

The two inmates and four staff members were taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital, where they were treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.
