Family of four rescued from Wicklow lake

A family of four have been rescued from a lake in Co Wicklow after they got into difficulties while boating in the area yesterday evening.

The Coast Guard launched the rescue after the family's boat capsized on Blessington Lake shortly before 6pm.

Two people who saw the events unfold from the shore also had to be rescued after getting into difficulties when they rushed in to help.

Meanwhile, two youths were also rescued on the River Boyne in Drogheda, Co Louth, yesterday when their inflatable boat started sinking.
