New facilities at Killarney

Killarney celebrated the start of their four-day Summer Festival tonight with the official opening of a €1.7m re-development.

The facilities include a new weighing-room, stewards’ room, press room, Racegoers Club bar and corporate dining area.

The ceremony was performed by John O’Donoghue, the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism.

He said: “This is the type of development which was envisaged by the creation of the Horse & Greyhound Racing Fund, which will see 200m invested in racecourse development by the end of 2007.”
