Thai PM confirms reports of assassination plot
13/07/2006 - 07:32:55Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra today said there had been intelligence reports of a plot to assassinate him.
Asked about the assassination plot in Bangkok, Thaksin said: “The National Intelligence Agency chief showed me the report. There is nothing to worry about. We just increased security measures.”
Thaksin has been at the centre of a months-long political crisis in Thailand that started with street protests early this year demanding he step down.
Critics accuse Thaksin of widespread corruption and abuse of power.
