Hinphey, Cartin return for Derry

13/07/2006 - 11:29:49
Liam Hinphey and Paul Cartin have earned recalls to the Derry defence for Saturday's All-Ireland SFC third round qualifier against Longford (Pearse Park, throw-in 5pm).

Hinphey has recovered from a hamstring injury to take his place at left half-back, while Cartin comes in at right half-back after a spell out with a quad muscle injury.

Joe O'Kane and Fergal Crossan are the players to make way in the reshuffle.

Derry manager Paddy Crozier has also made a couple of positional switches to the side that started the 1-17 to 0-11 second round win over Kildare.

Mark Lynch moves to centre back due to Cartin's inclusion on the right. In a straight swap, Fergal Doherty reverts back to midfield with Joe Diver shifting to right half forward.

Former All-Star forward Enda Muldoon remains suspended - his four-week ban comes to an end on Saturday night - so much of Derry's attacking focus will fall on the shoulders of full-forward Paddy Bradley, who has shot 0-13 so far this summer.

The Glenullin marksman scored 0-03 against Tyrone and 0-04 against Donegal in the Ulster championship, and he tallied up 0-06 against Kildare last time out.

DERRY (SFC v Longford) - B Gillis; K McGuckin, K McCloy, F McEldowney; P Cartin, M Lynch, L Hinphey; J McBride (capt), F Doherty; J Diver, J Kelly, G Donaghey; C Mullan, P Bradley, E Bradley.
