Dylan lends support to Spanish peace process
11/07/2006 - 19:28:26Crusading rocker Bob Dylan is lending his support to the peace process in Spain's troubled Basque region by playing a free concert there.
Dylan, renowned for peace anthems Blowing In The Wind and Masters of War, will wow 50,000 fans in the Basque city of San Sebastian tomorrow to promote government talks with the armed Basque separatist movement ETA.
The region has been scarred nearly four decades of unrest which has killed 850 people.
A statement from the event's organisers reads: "It's a happening that will be remembered as a milestone in the path of peace.
"We are living days of hope when at last peace is possible. The gathering of thousands of people united by the music and over political ideas of any kind looks like the best way to symbolise this moment."
