10,000 business start-ups in first half of year
More than 10,000 new companies started business in Ireland in the first half of this year, according to Bank of Ireland's latest business start-up barometer.
Dublin is the top location for company formations with 3,586 companies set up in the county this year.
Cork saw 772 start-ups and Galway had 507. Limerick and Meath also rated highly in the analysis with 360 and 214 companies established this year.
Property remained a strong theme in business start-ups. The highest number of companies formed were in the construction and civil engineering sectors with 1,288 companies established.
Real estate and property management companies were next, accounting for 654 and 637 start-ups.
Some 462 business and management consultancy services companies were set up while 311 software consultancy and supply companies were also formed.
