Miller eyes Hasselbaink partnership

02/07/2006 - 12:21:17
Kenny Miller believes Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink would be his ideal strike partner at Celtic.

Miller – who signed a pre-contract agreement with the Scottish champions in January – will be officially unveiled at a press conference tomorrow.

He is disappointed he will not have the opportunity to play alongside John Hartson next season, following his move to West Brom.

But Miller insists reported Celtic target Hasselbaink would be the ideal replacement.

“This is a huge club and I want to push myself to the limit here,” he told the News of the World. “That‘s why I‘d love to see Hasselbaink join the club.

“I have to admit I was gutted when I heard that John Hartson was leaving for West Brom because I was looking forward to playing with a legend like John.

“If the manager can persuade Jimmy to sign for Celtic it would be a real coup, the perfect replacement for big John.”

Celtic skipper Neil Lennon agrees that the club is now crying out for a physical presence up front.

And he believes Chelsea frontman Carlton Cole fits the bill perfectly.

“I‘d like to see us get a big striker in,” he said.

“We‘ve got very quick forwards but the physical side of it is not there, I think.

“We‘ve been linked with Carlton Cole and that type of player would be ideal.”
