Lecturers to take action over dwindling funding for languages
02/07/2006 - 11:37:50Lecturers at Trinity College and UCD claimed that subjects such as German, French and other languages could be gone within a decade if funding continues to dwindle.
The academics said that arts and humanities are being sacrificed to the benefit of science subjects, which are perceived to be the money spinners.
Language departments at Trinity may have their budgets cut by 25% over the next four years under a new funds allocation system at the college.
The Arts academics have said they are now considering legal action.
