Israel revokes residency rights of senior Hamas officials
30/06/2006 - 08:55:25Israel today revoked the Jerusalem residency of four senior Hamas officials, including one Cabinet minister, in an unprecedented punishment that takes away their right to live in the holy city and travel freely in Israel.
In April, interior minister Roni Bar-On announced his intention to revoke the residency of the three Hamas politician and one Cabinet minister because of their refusal to denounce a deadly suicide bombing in Israel.
Bar-On signed the document today as Israel pressed an offensive in Gaza to try to win the release of a kidnapped soldier, a government official said.
