First Tourism Ireland office opens in Shanghai
30/06/2006 - 12:20:22Minister for Enterprise Michael Martin opened Tourism Ireland's first office in China today.
The office is based in Shanghai and it has been opened in recognition of the growing importance of the Chinese tourism market for Ireland.
More than 5000 Chinese visitors came to the island of Ireland in 2005.
“Tourism is a major economic sector in Ireland with over eight million visitors” said the Minister.
“Each year more and more visitors come to the island of Ireland to have that unique experience and we look forward to welcoming more Chinese tourists in the future” he said.
