Ahern and Blair visit Stormont amid growing pessimism
The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and British Prime Minister Tony Blair are due to visit the North today amid growing pessimism about their latest push to restore devolved government.
The Irish and British governments have given the various parties, particularly Sinn Féin and the DUP, until November 24 to reach a deal on power-sharing.
However, the DUP is still steadfastly refusing to share power with Sinn Féin until it is satisfied that republicans are "fit for government".
Speaking ahead of today's summit in Stormont, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern said there was disappointment at the lack of progress.
He said the parties would be told clearly today that they have to reach agreement by November 24 or the whole issue of devolved government will be shelved "for some considerable time".
