British house price slowdown continues

House prices in Britain edged ahead by just 0.3% during June as the property market continued to show signs of slowing down, figures revealed today.

The slight increase follows gains of just 0.2% in May and 0.1% in April, according to Nationwide Building Society.

Annual house price growth rose slightly during the month, increasing to 5%, up from 4.7% in the 12 months to the end of May, but the group said this reflected a 0.1% fall in house prices this time last year.
