Missing girls found dead in Belgium
Belgian police today found the body of a young girl believed to be seven-year-old Stacy Lemmens who disappeared with her stepsister more than two weeks ago.
“We can confirm that Stacy’s body has been found, or rather a body with all the characteristics of Stacy,” Liege Prosecutor Cedric Visart de Bocarme told reporters. “The clothing is the same.”
Stacy disappeared during a late night street party on June 10 along with her stepsister Nathalie Mahy, 10.
Later, police said a second body had also been found.
A convicted child rapist Abdallah Aid Oud, 39, has been charged with their kidnapping and has been held by police since handing himself in on June 13.
Aid Oud denies any involvement in their disappearance.
News reports that a body was found has shocked Belgium, reviving painful memories in Belgium of the killing spree of child rapist Marc Dutroux 10 years ago.
His two youngest victims were snatched from a street in Liege and were found dead a year later.
