SF to review participation in 'toothless' Stormont Assembly
28/06/2006 - 07:48:26Sinn Féin is due to hold talks in Dundalk today to review whether it should continue to participate in the 'toothless' assembly that is currently sitting at Stormont.
The assembly has been temporarily restored by the British government without any real powers as part of a plan aimed at eventually getting the power-sharing Executive back up and running.
Progress has been virtually non-existent, however, due to the DUP's ongoing refusal to share power with republicans until it decides that they are fit for government.
Sinn Féin says it is committed to the goal of restoring power-sharing, but is reluctant to participate in a farce that only heightens the political crisis and makes the public even more cynical.
