Star midfielder George O’Callaghan was sent off tonight as Cork lost the lead of the Premier Division table they only regained on Friday night.

Talismanic O’Callaghan, already booked for a bad challenge on John Paul Kelly on 14 minutes, crashed into the Bohs winger again on the half hour leaving referee Pat Whelan with little option but to show him a second yellow and then red.

City keeper Mick Devine had made a brilliant stop to keep out Stephen Ward’s header on seven minutes with Vinny Arkins’ follow-up ruled out for offside.

Ten-man Cork did have their chances, most notably on 42 minutes when John O’Flynn brought a good stop out of Stephen O’Brien, before a forgettable second half.
