Late surge sees students grab win

Goals inside five second-half minutes from Patrick Kavanagh and Brian Shortall won this match for UCD tonight.
Blues started well and were in front on nine minutes. Daryl Kavanagh’s low cross was fed through by Ian Fraher for Paul McCarthy to sidefoot to the net.
UCD keeper Darren Quigley then made a brave save at the feet of James Chambers as College continued to struggle to get into the game.
The students huffed and puffed before they finally came alive in the last 20 minutes.
Then on 74 minutes substitute Kavanagh drilled home the equaliser after good work by Derek Doyle and Pat McWalter.
Shortall then won it with a powerful header from Stephen Hurley’s corner.
