Around 600 motorists picking up penalty points every day

Almost one-in-six Irish motorists have reportedly picked up penalty points since the system was introduced nearly four years ago.

Reports this morning said official garda figures show around 300,000 motorists now have points on their licence for one or more of the 35 offences covered by the initiative.

Around 50,000 - or 600 every day - have reportedly picked up points since the system was computerised two months ago.
