IBOA recommends rejection of social partnership deal

The Irish Bank Officials Association is recommending that its members reject the new social partnership agreement.

IBOA members are due to be balloted on the Towards 2016 deal this week.

Their union is recommending that they reject it, mainly because it does not contain any local-bargaining clause to allow workers to claim extra pay increases from highly profitable firms like those in the financial services sector.

The IBOA also says the agreement has also failed to properly protect workers' pensions.
